Inspired by our Great Grandfather, Harry Gaddum clothing captures the elegance of this early 20th century gentleman, with a contemporary twist.
The Harry Gaddum smart casual range for Men includes collar and grandad shirts, waistcoats, bow ties and other accessories, some beautifully embellished with the family crest or motto.
A father to four sons himself, Gaddum Minor (aged 7-12) and Gaddum Minimus (aged 2-6 years) has been designed for any aspiring ‘mini me’.
Harry Gaddum lived through an extraordinary period of change, from 1865 to 1940. Born in Manchester, Harry was the first child of silk merchant Henry Theodore Gaddum and his wife Emily and was shaped by his life experiences. His education in England, Switzerland and Germany; his work from Shanghai based silk merchant to Manchester businessman; and in his interests: a family-man with a love of horses and a hands-on approach to philanthropy in Victorian and Edwardian North West England.
Harry Gaddum has been created by our family run business, building on an experience of textiles which the Gaddum family have been trading in since 1826. Originally renowned for Gaddum silk and yarns (Harry’s son Peter spent much of World War II in the Middle and Far East sourcing silk for British parachutes), Harry’s Great Grandson Toby with his wife Jane, continue the family’s textile connection today.
Gaddums still supply silk yarns and other products, and in 2012 established our factory in the Staffordshire Moorlands to revitalise British sewing and garment making in a traditional textile town. Most of our Harry Gaddum range is made and embellished here by our skilled team of cutters, machinists and embroiderers.
We hope that you enjoy wearing Harry Gaddum as much as we have enjoyed creating it.
